This study provided research data concerning faculty knowledge and attitudes regarding current Credit for Prior Learning (CPL) practices in the Community College System of Massachusetts, USA. A questionnaire was adapted from Wright's 1978 study and the results are based on a 56% response rate. The data were analyzed to compare faculty from institutions with high, medium and low usage of CPL; faculty teaching in career and non-career programs, and faculty in portfolio and non-portfolio using institutions. Interviews with Registrars were also conducted. Findings indicated that CPL practices across institutions ere generally similar in terms of methods used and concerns about the process.
